Five Man Electrical Band

Originally formed in 1963 as The Staccatos in Ottawa, Canada, they released the album “Initially The Staccatos” with band members Rick Bell, Vern Craig, Les Emmerson & Brian Rading. Mike Bell (Rick’s brother) was added as a second drummer before the release of “A Wild Pair”, a joint album with The Guess Who? (aka The Guess Who), with each band contributing five songs. The album featured a pear sliced in half on the front cover and was recorded at Hallmark Studios in Toronto. The Staccatos’ biggest hit song was "Half Past Midnight" in 1967. Ted Gerow joined later as the group’s keyboardist. Vern Craig left the band around the time The Staccatos changed their name to Five Man Electrical Band. “Signs”, written by Les Emmerson, was originally released on the Five Man Electrical Band album “Good-Byes And Butterflies” in 1970. “Signs” was re-released as an international single in 1971.
