Tom Petty was born 20 October 1950. He was a talented and diverse musician, writing and producing music for over 4 decades. He co-founded the 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys as well as leading the band Mudcrutch; however, he is most famous as the lead singer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. His accomplishments over his career include receiving the Billboard Century Award, receiving a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, and an induction into the rock and roll hall of fame with fellow Heartbreakers band members. He sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Tom Petty continued his musical career until his early death on 2 October 2017.
